CONIWAS, stakeholders launch 2nd edition of Ghana WASH Week

Stakeholders in Ghana’s Water Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector launched the second edition of the  Ghana Sanitation Week celebrations at a ceremony on  Tuesday.

Led by the Coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS), the stakeholders lined up various activities for the nationwide celebration under the theme, “Safely-Managed WASH: Every Contribution Counts.”

Below are highlights of speeches at the launching:

“It is important for all sector players to continue contributing their parts, having in mind, the Ghana WASH Development Programme,and ensure that we coordinate our efforts towards achieving safely managed WASH for all.” Ing. George Asiedu- GAMA/GKMA.

“Ghana needs 1.79 bln USD investment annually to achieve SDG-6,”- Kofi Biscof, TREND.

“Ghana has already pilotedevery idea. It is time now to implement tose that have worked,” Ing. Harold Esseku, World Bank.

“CONIWAS acknowledges overnment and allpartners for teh tremendous endorsement  an support for the Ghana WASH Week,” Victoria Norgbey, Acting Chair of CONIWAS.

“It is crucial for every stakeholderto support the agenda to achieve the SDG-6 by 2030,” Ing. Kwabena Gyasi, MSWR.

“Money alone cannot solve our WASH problems if ttitudes don’t change,” -Felix Amofa, Global Communities.

The week-long activity is scheduled for August 21 to August 25 and will include radio  discussions, a Breakfast Meeting, outreaches and other public events.
