The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) Ghana’s state –run water utility has announced that a fire outbreak at its booster station at Dodowa has cut water supply to parts of Accra.
According to a release by GWL, the incident has led to a temporary shutdown of operations at the facility for comprehensive repair works.
Due to the shut-down, water supply to areas such as East Legon, Agbogba, Haatso, Atomic Frafraha, Ashaley Botwe, Adjiringanor, Ashongman, Dome, Adenta, Madina, Oyarifa and their surroundings have been interrupted, according to the release.
“Our team of engineers are currently on site working tirelessly and around the clock to restore the system to its full functionality,” GWL added.
The water utility company apologized to the affected communities for the inconvenience caused to consumers by the development, appealing to customers to remain patient during the period.
GWL said it has instituted alternative arrangements to ensure the continuous supply to essential service providers, including schools and hospitals, during this period, urging them to contact their respective Municipal Chief Executives, Assembly Members, and Unit Committee Members in case of shortage.
These institutions may also reach out to the Call Centres of GWL on 0207385089, 0207385090, or 0302218240 for assistance.
