Accra, Ghana – In response to the temporary shutdown of the Teshie-Nungua Desalination Plant, Ghana Water Limited (GWL) is taking proactive steps to minimize disruptions to the water supply in affected communities.
According to a press release signed by Stanley Martey, Chief Manager of PR & Communications at GWL, the company is rerouting water from alternative treatment facilities to ensure a steady supply of potable water to essential services and communities.
The shutdown is expected to affect water supply in the following areas: Teshie, Nungua, Spintex, parts of Sakumono, and surrounding areas of La.
“We understand the importance of a reliable water supply to our customers, and we are working diligently to mitigate the impact of this shutdown,” Martey stated. “We appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding during this period and assure them of our commitment to restoring normal operations as soon as possible.”
GWL is prioritizing essential services such as hospitals, schools, and health centers to ensure an uninterrupted water supply. The company is also collaborating with community representatives to provide alternative water supply arrangements to the affected communities.
